Day 1 - Monday, April 27th: Arrived in Cabo at 6:10pm. Got to the hotel (Hacienda Del Mar) around 7pm. We went to the beach outside of our hotel for almost an hour, and ran from waves (which was fun!)
Day 2 - Tuesday, April 28th: We went to the grocery store and picked up some things to cook and stuff for sandwiches. We played Spanish bingo at the pool, and I won 2 drinks!
Day 3 - Wednesday, April 29th: Walked around town, went by the Cabo Wabo, also saw that the Cabo Wabo Beach Club was closed (Sammy didn't own it, a friend of his did, and Sam almost bought it from him, but it lost money, and Sam wants only one Cabo Wabo!) We hung out at The Office for a bit. At 3:30pm we went horseback riding up to the old lighthouse for 3 1/2 hours, and went to the No Name Cafe for dinner afterwards. Then we walked downtown and hailed a taxi back to the hotel and watched the waves crash and roar again after dark.
Day 4 - Thursday, April 30th: Went on the glass bottom boat, we were planning on going to lovers beach, but it was too rough. We hung out at The Office for awhile again. Took the 3:30 back to the hotel and hung on the beach for a couple hours.
Day 5 - Friday, May 1st: We went downtown and bought a few things at the Cabo Wabo Cantina. Back to the hotel for lunch, and played Spanish bingo again, went swimming, and played volleyball on the beach.
Day 6 - Saturday, May 2nd: Michael left at 6am to go fishing for 5 hours. I wasn't feeling good this day, very sick. I was able to go down to the pool and play Spanish bingo for an hour, though.
Day 7 - Sunday, May 3rd: We went downtown at 10am and went ATVing for 3 hours at 12:30. When we got back to the hotel we watched a couple of movies then went to the beach again around 11pm.
Day 8 - Monday, May 4th: The move to the Pueblo Bonito Rose. Went downtown after the move, and hung out at the Cabo Wabo for awhile, then went grocery shopping again, and headed back to the hotel for lunch. Around 2:30pm we walked along Medano Beach back to the Cabo Wabo. When we walked in we saw that Victor and David were playing on stage. Met up with some SHMLers after watching them for some time.
Day 9 - Tuesday, May 5th: We hang around the hotel, and finally leave for the Cantina around 4pm, going to the dinner at 6pm. Went downstairs around 7pm and hung out there till Sammy finally came out to play around 9:45. He played for about 2 hours.
Day 10 - Wednesday, May 6th: Went downtown again for ATVing 3 hours. Back to the hotel for dinner, then went back downtown to go on the Pez Gato (Cat Fish) Sunset Cruise, and to our surprise, we found a bunch of SHMLers on the boat. Thanks to Eddie, we got to listen to some Sammy on the boat! (Parts of this were video taped, btw!) Walked back to the hotel after this, it was a nice evening!
Day 11 - Thursday, May 7th: Got to the Cabo Wabo Cantina around 2pm, and sat around with a few members of the band, then waited around for the concert (Free night) which lasted maybe an hour and a half.
Day 12 - Friday, May 8th: (Pretty much the same as the 7th, except it was $15 instead of free and the concert lasted almost 2 hours)
Day 13 - Saturday, May 9th: Went on the Pez Gato Snorkeling/Booze Cruise, went shopping downtown, talked to some SHMLers at the Cabo Wabo, then went back to the hotel and packed some and had lunch/dinner.
Day 14 - Sunday, May 10th: Went swimming, had breakfast, and finished packing by 1, and headed for the airport. We were watching the 3rd nights concert on my video camera and someone told us that Sammy was on our flight. We were very surprised, we thought he had left the day before with the rest of the band. When I was getting on the plane, I saw him in first class, he shook my hand and said he was glad I could make it! Kari was there with him, and Kama, and his mom. Getting off the plane and going to the baggage claim carousels, we didn't see him, but after a few minutes he came up and parked his cart right next to us. We talked for awhile, and saw Kama walking around (she's getting big! =) and we wished Kari and Sammy's mom a happy mother's day. I asked Sammy if I could get a pic taken with him, he said "Sure, you traveled all this way".. so Michael took a pic, and Sammy gave me a hug :) We then bumped into them a few more times before we got outside and he was telling me how when he gets recognized by the customs people he gets hassled more than when he doesn't because they want to go through his stuff. He asked me "This isn't your final destination, is it?" and I told him that it was Detroit and I had a 6 hour layover or something. He then asked me if I had any money, I said "Yeah some.." He said "Here's $20, get yourself something to eat" I was like "Ok, and I'll get you copies of those tapes with the rest of it!" He gave us a couple of the picks that he "really uses" and gave me a hug :) It was so great, Sammy is the nicest guy! |
